Word and Image had the goal of acquiring knowledge about the relationship between images and language through research and the systematic creation of image series.

At what point does censorship convey a new meaning in text and image? Using both text and image, I intended to explore the relationship between censorship and content. I created a comparative series, consisting of the exact same text, image and gesture, all expressing individuality in a different way. This series shows a progression in the degree of censorship and how each is affected. It compares the effectiveness of content when information is removed and what vital information is needed for comprehension. This series also explores when an entirely new image is created as a result of censorship. In each scenario, it is subjective which medium is more effective depending on the viewer and the degree of censorship.
